Segaia Bush Retreat 2015: Photo Highlights
Segaia Bush Retreat is a highly recommended property for self catering in Buffelsdrift for anyone visiting the Northern Gauteng region. The name rolls gently and easily off the tongue – Segaia – a name you’re not likely to forget once you’ve visited this charming lodge which is a mere 20km from Pretoria and less than an hour from Johannesburg and O.R. Tambo International Airport. One of the jewels of northern Gauteng, Segaia Bush Retreat offers an escape to the magic of the bush that reminds of areas far more remote. It is the perfect getaway for weary, ‘traffic jammed’ city dwellers who do not want to spend hours on the road to get to a weekend destination, but require an atmosphere of peace and tranquility combined with fresh air.

The Panorama Route is a scenic road in South Africa connecting several cultural and natural points of interest. The route, steeped in the history of South Africa, is in Mpumalanga province, centred around the Blyde River Canyon, the world’s third largest canyon. It features numerous waterfalls, one of the largest afforested areas in South Africa, and several natural landmarks. The route starts at the foot of the Long Tom Pass just outside Lydenburg, following the natural descent from the Great Escarpment to the Lowveld, and ending at the border of the Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces near the Echo Caves. The Panorama Route’s popularity has much to do with its proximity to the Kruger National Park. It is often part and parcel of any organised trip to the game reserve.

The name Klipspringer is the Afrikaans for ‘rock jumper’ and alludes to the animal’s ability in rocky territory where it can be seen moving freely, seemingly on tiptoe. Weighing 11-13 kg and standing 500-600mm high at the shoulders, the Klipspringer is a small and stocky antelope. Ewes are slightly larger than the rams. Only rams have short horns, which are ringed only at the base. Klipspringer have smallish rounded ears positioned far back on the head, and with noticeable dark inner markings.
