The African buffalo is a large sub-Saharan African bovine. There are five subspecies that are recognized as being valid. Syncerus caffer caffer, the Cape buffalo, is the nominotypical subspecies, and the largest one, found in Southern and East Africa.

25 Oct 2019. Four lions, dubbed the ‘Pride of Tshwane’, were found hacked to death in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve. The lions with their paws and jaws removed were found dead at the Rietvlei Nature Reserve outside Pretoria, the city of Tshwane’s agriculture MMC Dana Wannenburg said.
